Rising striker Jeppe Brandt takes on grappling specialist Fredrick Høifødt in AD Academy 2.0 headliner

Danish up-and-comer Jeppe “Vika” Brandt returns for his second AD Academy main event, where he’ll face Norwegian ground fighter Fredrick Høifødt in a classic striker-vs-grappler showdown at welterweight.

Brandt (2-0) is one of Denmark’s most promising young prospects who has been honing his craft in Thailand at Phuket Fight Club for years. With a striking base built on boxing and Muay Thai, he brings relentless aggression, crisp combinations, and undeniable power – as seen in his blistering knockout of Kevin Gjelseth at AD Academy 1.0 in September, a rematch from the amateur ranks that lasted barely over a minute.

Despite his reputation as a striker, Brandt isn’t averse to mixing it up on the mat. He showed solid top control and ground-and-pound in his pro debut win over Max Wennow, using both strength and technique to dictate the terms of the fight. A natural welterweight with proven physicality at 170 pounds, he enters this matchup confident that his frame and skills will hold up.

Høifødt (1-1) is a seasoned competitor representing Orion MMA Academy in Tønsberg, Norway. He enters the cage with the kind of amateur experience few regional fighters can match. A veteran of the 2022 IMMAF World Championships, he has built his reputation on his ability to take the back and finish with a rear naked choke. Training alongside PFL veteran Marthin Hamlet has further refined his approach, emphasizing chain-wrestling from the clinch and positional control.

After dropping a hard-fought pro debut to Makhmud Sayfullaev, the Norwegian rebounded in style earlier this year with a first-round submission against Aleksandar Virtanen. That win showcased not just his composure but also hints of growing confidence on the feet. Moving up to welterweight for the first time as a professional, Høifødt brings improved size and strength – but also faces the question of how his grappling-heavy style translates against naturally larger opposition.

Few matchups capture the essence of Mixed Martial Arts better than a meeting between an explosive striker and a relentless grappler. Brandt thrives in slugfests – sharp counters, heavy exchanges, and violent bursts that can end fights in an instant. Høifødt, by contrast, finds comfort in control – closing distance, tying up opponents, and suffocating them into surrender. Brandt’s strength and power have proven too much for anyone to handle up to this point, but Høifødt only needs one small opening to silence the arena.
